Hello, I’m Emma Baines. I’m 29 years old and I live just outside Bournemouth with my lovely food-writer husband Nick. We have a little boy called Huxley who is 3.5 years old and a little girl called California who is 3 months old. I currently blog here about travel, food & fashion, but also at Huffington Post UK and Eat Sleep Dorset. I work as a freelance social media consultant – please feel free to send me an email if you’d like any help or advice with anything social!
1. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since November 2010.
2. What made you start blogging?
I was bored and unhappy in my job and wanted a creative outlet. Believe it or not, when I first started I didn’t realise there was an entire community online already doing the same thing! (Although it was a MUCH smaller community back then!)
3. Do you earn money from blogging?
Yes I do, in the form of sponsored posts and affiliate links. I will always mark my affiliate links with an asterisk, any ‘free’ items sent for review will be marked as c/o and my sponsored posts are always labelled at the bottom for complete transparency.
4. What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
Definitely the community. I’ve made some really wonderful friends through blogging over the years and the community and support available on Twitter is incredible.
5. What camera do you use?
I use a mixture of two cameras. I use a Nikon D7000 (this is the latest model*) with a 50mm lens and a Canon G16*. Originally all my photos were taken with my DSLR but since having Huxley, it’s just too difficult to carry a big, heavy camera around at all times so I bought the Canon G16 as it fits nicely in my handbag or pocket. I also use the Canon G16 to film my weekly vlogs.
