Friday, Saturday & Sunday – Greek & a walk & a party

I had the best day ever on Friday. I won £200 from Take A Break magazine. I knew the weekend was going to be a good one after that :)

Went out for a lovely dinner on Friday night with all my friends to Zorba’s Greek restaurant in Bournemouth. We had the meze and it was SO much food but really good.

On Saturday, we decided to go for a walk. Unfortunately we chose badly and it was a pretty boring walk. Far too pathy – I much prefer the kind where you get stinging-nettle-legs and lots of mud. It was just outside Wimborne on the Kingston Lacy estate. We only ended up being out for an hour.

Saturday night was my sister’s engagement party. I’ll be honest, I didn’t stay long. I’m far too much of an old lady and the music was giving me a headache. (As you can see, I don’t do party-wear well – I literally stared blankly into my wardrobe for about 20 minutes and then resigned to go for comfort instead)

Today we went to Nick’s parents as it was his Dad’s birthday in the week but they were away so we celebrated today instead.

It was insanely warm in the garden (thermometer said 26 degrees!) so I sat in the sun for as long as possible. Best February EVER.

We stopped at the beach on the way home for some quick photos. I know I probably look the same to the rest of you and I’m sorry to keep going on about it, but I find myself unrecognisable in these photos. I didn’t realise that a stone would make such a big difference to my appearance!

Monday – Bob Books and Lauren

Last week I finally got around to making a calendar using our travel photos. I’ve wanted to do this for years and as the office was shut this Christmas, it meant that I had the spare time I needed to make one. I absolutely love it! I’ve been using Bob Books for about 4 years now to print my annual photo book but this is the first calendar I’ve had done with them and I’m very impressed! The quality is fantastic. I think it cost £16 including postage so a bit more than a regular calendar would cost and a lot more than the 99p advert for Vistaprint I saw the other day but it’s so perfect that I don’t mind. I’ve also pre-entered everyone’s birthdays so they are all nice and neatly typed :)

Here’s some of my favourite months:

Also, I wanted to say Happy Birthday to one of my best friends, Lauren. She is 24 today and I love her to bits :)

And here’s my dull outfit of the day. Honestly, I get so embarrassed when I tell people I have a style blog.

Tuesday – Japan & back to work

Back to work today so I decided to make getting dressed extremely easy for myself by just chucking on this easy ensemble. Plus, a skirt and heels wouldn’t have been the best idea in this hurricane-esque weather!

Navy H&M cowl neck jumper, Hollister jeans, Stylist Pick leopard print flats

Me and Nick are thinking about going to Japan in the spring. To help us decide we ordered the Encounter guide on Tokyo. Nick took a photo of one of the pages earlier and sent it to me at work on an email. It’s safe to say that my mind is now definitely made up. They better let adults play in that cat bus!

Tonight is my first night working to my new evening schedule. For me this is a nightmarish way to live. I enjoy spontaneity. But I felt a strict, timed schedule was necessary to keep my stress levels down and to manage my time effectively. On the plus side, I’ve scheduled some pure Twitter time in there so hopefully I’ll be able to have some lovely conversations with everyone and get to know people better now! You can follow me here if you’d like a chat!

If you have a second then you should watch this comical short video from my friend Jimmy of Jimmy’s Iced Coffee as he tries to make a white russian in the rain and blustering wind that we had this morning.

I hope all of your first days have been good to you – it was a bit of a shock getting out of bed at 6.30am! I’d forgotten how dark it is!

P.S. I can’t say too much at the moment but I’ll hopefully be hosting a very exciting giveaway to celebrate my birthday next week!

Wednesday – WIMH & bloggers christmas party outfit help!

My life is so dull in the winter – bring on the Spring!

I was delighted to receive an email the other day informing me that I had won a competition on the fabulous new WIMH (What’s In My Handbag) website! I was told that an Eyeko product would be dispatched to me shortly. So, today the postman bought me a skinny eyeliner pencil in a very light pink. I can’t wait to try it and will review as soon as I can.

In the mean time, you should check out WIMH, they are currently doing a daily feature on industry insiders handbag contents and today you can take a peek and see what the lovely Sarah from Temporary:Secretary carries around with her :)

This is what I wore today – very boring I know sorry

As you may or may not know, it’s the bloggers xmas party on Friday in Bristol – if you haven’t already got a ticket then you should definitely buy yourself one (it’s only £5!)

I’ve been trying to decide what to wear for ages and I haven’t been in the mood for shopping recently so I haven’t bought anything new. So I need your help.

Which one do you think?

My white Adam dress from the Outnet……or my black French Connection dress??

Thursday – A curry & Sevenly

Okay, boring outfit out the way first again. I might use a silly photo all the time.

Grey Hollister cardigan, red zara paper bag skirt, Celtic Sheepskin boots

Went for an impromptu curry at the Taj Mahal in Westbourne after work this evening with the in-laws which was very lovely :)

I wanted to talk about a company called Sevenly today. I discovered this company months ago, about a week after they launched and I didn’t blog about it on here because for some reason I blogged about it over at Four Kilos.

The idea is simple. One t-shirt design sold for just 7 days and $7 from each one goes to charity – a different charity every week. Because they’re only available for 7 days, the t-shirts are rare and you are unlikely to see anyone else wearing the same one as you.

They are doing a fantastic job and I love the way that it’s so easy to see how much money they’ve raised so clearly.

As well as their target amount of money to raise within 7 days, they also have an ‘awareness’ goal which relies on people tweeting and liking on Facebook which is a great idea.

You can visit the Sevenly website here:

This weeks t-shirt is available for 3 more days and is in support of The Girl Effect which helps to provide life development to abandoned girls in Sri Lanka.

The cost varies each week but is usually between $17 – $23. This one is $22. Shipping to the UK is $9. (Altogether this works out at £19.18 – an absolute bargain!)

Thursday – Bingo & James Vincent McMorrow

No time for a proper post yesterday as I rushed straight off to bingo after work.

I came across James Vincent McMorrow the other day, I saw him on someone else’s blog (but I can’t remember who, sorry! If it was you then please let me know!) and I’m a tiny bit in love with his music. To be honest, it’s only a matter of time before it’s featured on a John Lewis advert and then played to death so I’m enjoying it while I can.

This song is my favourite and it’s absolutely beautiful.

This one is a close second.

Sorry that I can’t work out how to put videos up properly yet. I know it’s a pain having to click away to Youtube but it will be worth it, I promise!

I won’t be blogging for the next few days as we are going to Grimbsy to see Nick’s family. Hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

Tuesday – New blog & blog birthday!!

I’m back! Well actually, I got back from my holiday on Thursday but my blog has been in limbo for the past few days while I move over to be self-hosted. This explains why my blog looks a bit strange at the moment. I haven’t had time to look for a new theme yet but hopefully it will look a bit nicer in the next few weeks!

It’s really taken me by surprise how much I’ve missed blogging! I’ve got lots of things to tell you about!

Firstly, it was my blog’s 1st birthday yesterday! I’m so incredibly proud of myself for sticking at this for a year. I feel like I’ve grown with it and although my fashion hasn’t improved, I’m now properly attached to this little blog and love it like a child. I cannot believe that a year has gone past! It’s crazy! I’ve been very defeatist of my blog when my husband tells me how well I’ve done over the past year. I keep telling him that I haven’t done half as well as some other bloggers out there who have only been around for a year (Sarah,Victoria, Jenni I’m looking at you!) but I’ve come to realise that it doesn’t matter. I didn’t start this blog to become an internet sensation and I know I’ll never have a band of merry followers to rival Lily or Chiara but I know that lots of people enjoy my blog for what it is and even if just one person got a smile from it then it would be worth continuing.

I had every intention of organising some sort of giveaway to celebrate but my holiday and moving my blog has got in the way. As we’re getting so close now, I think I’ll just bundle it together with Christmas and do a bumper Christmas/blog birthday giveaway instead.

While I was away, the lovely people at MC2 sent me some more Krispy Kreme doughnuts! This time they sent the Christmas editions to taste! Luckily they were sent the day before I got back so they were still okay for me to eat when I returned. Sadly, the snowman’s face got a bit smushed in transit but he still tasted yummy. In fact, he was my favourite one! He’s filled with jam rather than the usual kreme which I know people can find a bit sickly. The Christmas tree shaped one was nice (filled with Kreme) but I thought the glazed one was a bit bland. The glaze is meant to be red berry gloss but I didn’t think it tasted of anything to be honest (but it does look very pretty!)

Hopefully this week I’ll find time to show you my Debenhams haul from yesterday & my Vietnam haul :)

Wednesday – H&M & chino hunting

Nothing much to say today. It’s been a standard day.

Going shopping at Castlepoint after work today as Nick is on the search for the perfect pair of chinos to take on holiday with him. I might sneak off into H&M while he’s distracted because my friend sent a 50% off code for the website round work today! My plan is to hunt down all the stuff I want and then order it online for half price! It might even be the perfect excuse for me to finally buy that amazing fur stole that every blogger and her dog seems to have right now! (Michelle, Milly, Kelly, Samantha, Kate, Marissa, Maria, Vivienne, Alix, Catherine, Grace)

The code is 9536 and Laura informs me that it’s valid until the 2nd :) Enjoy!

(Unfortunately the amazing sparkly jumper that I want isn’t on the website!)

Another day, another boring (and mainly navy) outfit.

Tuesday – Bloggers Breast Cancer Awareness Raffle

I know today’s title is unusual as it only has one item in it but I felt that was the best way to go today given that I’m talking about something so wonderful.

I’m sure most of you probably already know the lovely Sarah from Essbeevee – and if you don’t then you should get over there now and check her out! She has an extensive dress collection and very pretty hair. I think that’s reason enough!

Sarah has been working very hard recently to put together the Bloggers Breast Cancer Awareness Raffle and I was delighted when she announced the details on her blog earlier.

She’s managed to get some great prizes together in such a short space of time. I’m sure you’re all dying to know what they are, so here’s the list so far:

So, the outfit. You know those days where your face is spotty and your hair is a mess so you can’t be bothered to even start thinking about an outfit and just throw on whatever is at the top of the pile…..yeah that. I also managed to rip a hole in my tights after being at work for about an hour. I think that leaves me with 2 pairs now. Desperately need to get to Primark! Praying the rain holds off tomorrow so I can make a lunchtime dash!!

Monday – Zara jeans & a recap

So I’ve been told that I can continue blogging on here for a little while longer. Apparently it only takes a little while to move my new posts over to the new blog. We’re still locked out at the moment but hopefully it will be fixed soon!

Thought I’d do a super quick recap of what I’ve been up to over the past few days (nothing overly exciting though so please feel free to ignore!

Thursday – I went to a social media conference with my boss called SoCon2011 – it was excellent! Some really interesting talks!

Friday – Had the afternoon off work, was planning to drive up north to see family but Nick changed his mind so we ended up doing nothing. I did have Chez Fred fish & chips for dinner though which was a bonus!

Saturday – Went to Wimborne Food Festival for a few hours – was pretty much just cupcake and burger stands and it was insanely busy! The parking situation was horrific too. Won’t be going next year unless they open up a field for parking or something. Then we went to Nicks parents house for the afternoon and home for the evening to play Lego Harry Potter. We watched Tim Minchin too and thought he was great!

Sunday – Laid in bed catching up on magazines until midday. Nick made me a bacon sandwich in bed with his homemade bacon. It was amazing. Saw my Nan in the evening and went to my Mums for dinner which was nice.

Today I’ve just been at work, went to Tesco at lunchtime to get some shampoo and stuff for my holiday. That’s about it really.

Wore my navy Zara jeans again today but they are so big on me! They gape really badly at the back. (They don’t look big in the picture – I actually look a right porker! I’m doing well at putting on weight!) And yes, I’ve got that cardigan on again.

Also, my Louboutins definitely need fixing now. I’ve put it off for so long but 3 years of wear has really taken its toll! The sole is actually starting to peel off! Thanks to the lovely Rose for pointing me in the direction of a suitable cobbler to get them fixed (£35 for a new leather sole! Bargain!) Apparently Christian Louboutin himself uses this particular cobblers himself sometimes and has been known to hand paint the soles back on! So I’m sure they’ll be in safe hands!
